Overall, Mas Al Sur is recognized for its good value, welcoming ambiance, and a genuine taste of Spanish cuisine.
Very nice taberna with delicious food and friendly service! Approximately a ten minutes walk from La Reina Sofia museum. We had a table booked, but many people showed up without a reservation and it did not seem to be an issue.
A fantastic Spanish restaurant! The squid was especially delicious, and the sangria was absolutely amazing. Interestingly, we ordered two glasses, and they tasted slightly different—one had a more tangy flavor. The service was fast and friendly, and the food arrived quickly. We don’t speak Spanish, but the staff were very patient and kindly waited for us to translate. Highly recommended!
The food is good, the service is excellent. Inside feels like a local place to city life in the USA. We looked up places less than 20 per person to find less touristy places, and this was a gem. We made our own wine flight, so our bill was a little extra, but it was worth it.
Irresistible combo of great food, excellent service and such a lively atmosphere. We had lots of small bites, the calamari was well seasoned and tender, the croquettes were rich, and the hummus was so flavourful. We stayed longer to take in more sangria. Perfection!
Wait staff is a bit rushed but don't take it personally, they just have a lot to do... Food is worth the effort to find this place. I ordered the oxtail and my wife got the lamb off the set menu. Holy geez... Everything was great and the price was great too! (17 euros for her set: seafood paella to start, lamb steak then chocolate mousse). We're going back to Madrid in a few days and we'll be going here again.
Had planned a visit to this place or Taberna Al Sur after a visit to Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. Found this one faster. Unimpressive from the outside but once you go inside you get a cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, fast ordering and food preparation. We had the seafood paella, it was great with a variety of seafood (prawn, fish, mussels, squid). The sangria I had there was the best out of 4 different ones! I regret not trying at least one more item from the menu.
This place was amazing. We stopped here on a rainy day and were blown away. My son ordered the calamari and a salad, and my husband ordered a seafood paella, and I had the scallops. All of them were very tasty and I would highly recommend them. The food all came after around 7 minutes. Our server was very nice and took excellent care of us. A lot of the food we've had in Spain has either been super expensive or just not very good. This place checks all the boxes.
I really loved all the food we ordered, everything was amazing, the beef, squid, hummus and paella 11/10 will come back but unfortunately it’s my last night in Spain, will definitely recommend it to my amigos!Sangria was amazing too definitely worth ordering a jar!! Atmosphere and music was superb as well. The waiter was witty and helpful, the food was “sabroso” as one of the waiter would say :)
